Desert tourism has grown steadily in various parts of the world. Regarding postmodern fascination, silence and solitude of desert tourism have created a new spiritual value of exploring in quiet and arid areas. Furthermore, the development of ecotourism not only generates income for local people and in general increases GDP, but also has significant impacts on protection of desert ecosystems. Therefore, the present study aimed at formulating strategies for desert ecotourism development in in Lut Desert. The present study is an applied research in terms of purpose and is descriptive - analytic. The research group of this research are all experts related to tourism industry of Kerman province and also people familiar to Lut Desert. To analyze the data, SWOT analysis method and QSPM quantitative matrix were used. The research was performed in five phases. The results of the first four phases show that the aggressive area will be as the dominant strategic position in the development of ecotourism. In the fifth phase, attractiveness of aggressive region was ranked using QSPM quantitative matrix and the first strategy was determined as the most attractive strategy .
